You might discover your new favorite spot !

Don’t forget to check out our BEACHES IN JAVEA post and our BEACHES IN BENISSA post too.

1 – Cala Moraig

This spectacular beach is not the most accessible beach in Moraira but believes us, it is worth the journey.

Breathtaking scenery, dramatic cliffs, and crystal clear water are awaiting you. This beach is perfect if you want to escape the Moraira crowds and enjoy the beach away from built-up areas. The left end of the beach is an unofficial nudist beach so keep that in mind!

Our tip: Go early! The beach gets shade around 17h in the afternoon and the parking can get very crowded. The further you have to park the longer will the walk up the hill be on your way back!

  • Easy Access
  • Suitable for young children
  • Snorkeling
  • Scenery
  • How busy does it get ?

2. Cala Llebeig

This remote beach is truly a hidden gem. I’ll be honest this might not be a family-friendly/easy access beach BUT if you are looking to truly disconnect in a peaceful environment and have the place to yourself this is it! Some traditional fishermen houses are still standing and give the places an authentic feel.

Our tip : Wear some decent footwear and pack your flipflops in your bag. The road to Cala Llebeig is quite steep and rocky.

  • Suitable for young children
  • Snorkeling

3. Playa del Portet

El Portet Beach is Moraira’s crown jewel and has been featured in numerous travel magazines. With soft sand and shallow turquoise water, this is the perfect place for families. You’ll find a little kayak and standup paddle spot at the far end of the beach ( open April – September, hourly rate 10-15€). Feeling thirsty ? You have 3 little beachfront bars serving refreshments all day.

Our tip: Go early. El Portet gets busy in the summer and parking spots are very limited. You can also decide to rent one of our properties close to El Portet to be the first on the beach.

4. Cala Portitxolet

This small stony beach is a hidden gem only few people know about. We recommend this Cala to adults only. You can access this beach through a long flight of stairs that are not “kids friendly”. However, this is a snorkeller’s paradise with crystal clear water and rich marine life. The daredevils even can do a little bit of cliff jumping! As this is a “secret spot” there are no amenities available but this is the price you pay for the privacy and tranquility of the place.

Beaches in Moraira – Our tip: Bring a thick towel or a little mattress if you are planning on taking a little nap. Rocks can be quite sharp!

5. Playa Ampolla

With soft sand and shallow water, this is the most “family-friendly” beach in Moraira but also the busiest! The little ones can play safely on in the little stream that runs between the Barranc and the sea. They will also enjoy a playground, volleyball nets, shower and toilets as well as sunbed rentals. And if they feel hungry after a long day building sandcastle, you can grab a bite to eat at the beach bar El Castillo. If you are driving to La Ampolla there is free parking, but remember it gets BUSY !

Beaches in Moraira – Our tip: If you are planning to spend the day at Playa Ampolla it might be worth renting a couple of sunbeds. This will ensure you have a dedicated reserved space, a big advantage during the busy months.

6.Playa Playetes

This beach is a bit of a hybrid: half soft sand, half rocks. This is a great compromise if you are traveling with children but still want to do some snorkeling. As this beach is also lesser known as Ampolla…it is often less busy! There is parking close by, as well as showers and WC and a good selection of restaurants nearby.

Our tip: If you want some space sit on the left side of the beach (past the sunbed rentals)…most people stay on the right side !

7. Playa Andrago

This is another small pebble beach in Moraira, ideal to discover the local marine life. There is parking available and a selection of quality restaurants nearby. Algas Bar, for example, is an emblematic cocktail bar enjoying premium views of Moraira.

Beaches in Moraira – Our tip : If you can, take a  walk on the small promenade leading to the town center. You’ll enjoy some of the most beautiful views in town.
